We are looking for people aged 18+ living in the UK, who have personal experience of gambling related harm to join our Lived Experience Advisory Panel.
Our Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) have been actively supporting us for 3 years in providing the Gambling Commission with valuable advice based on lived experience of gambling harm.
The purpose of our panel is to ensure that the voice of those with lived experience informs our work to develop the policies to better regulate gambling in the UK.
Over the past 3 years, LEAP have supported us in this journey and have used the panel’s advice to make gambling safer for UK consumers. Some of LEAP’s achievements include:
About You
The Role
This is an opportunity to work alongside the Gambling Commission in an already established, dynamic and forward-thinking lived experience panel to turn your gambling harm expertise and experiences into advice that can help us and consumers to prevent gambling harm.
These roles are time and capacity flexible. Most of our current members work full time and or have caring commitments whilst working with us, so these roles can fit into your schedules. You will, however, need to be able to attend meetings during office hours (9am-5.30).
Remuneration will be offered to participants for your time, at a rate of £270 for a full day. Expected time commitment is approximately 1 full day (7 hours) per month.
As the regulator of the National Lottery, there are some roles within the Commission that are prohibited from playing the National Lottery. This does not affect your family playing. We will let you know at interview if the role you have applied for is on the Prohibited List.

- Ensuring lived experience contributed to the Commission’s advice to Government on the recently published Gambling Act Review white paper. This included advice on issues such as online protections, marketing and advertising, and protection of young people.
- Advising on evidence gaps to inform our research plans.
- Helping us to better understand consumers experiences of illegal gambling.
About You
- Have experienced harm from either your own gambling or the gambling of a family member or friend.
- Have been in stable recovery for at least 12 months and have a strong support network to help you maintain your personal recovery.
- Great communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Resilient and prepared to take part in constructive conversations about gambling and its consequences.
- Strong desire to use your lived experience to make improvements to gambling regulation.
- You are not part of another Gambling Harm Lived Experience Group or Panel. This is to ensure we have more opportunities available for those with lived experience.
