We are looking for highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our team as Senior Healthcare Assistants. The role of the senior healthcare assistant is to assist the nursing team and support Junior healthcare assistants in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient.

  • To assist all team members as required in the direct delivery of patient care. Undertake/ assist in personal care duties for patients when required. Ensure privacy and dignity is maintained.
  • Utilise appropriate moving and handling aids to reduce the risk of injury to the patient and themselves. Ensure the safe transfer of patients to Wards and Departments using trolleys and wheelchairs which require steering and manipulation.
  • To have knowledge of clinical observations, glucose monitoring and urinalysis, all requiring the use of equipment or tools and require an understanding of the correct escalation process, reporting patient conditions to a senior member of staff.
  • To assist in the induction of new staff within the department, demonstrating duties to new starters. Lead in setting an example to new starters to ensure safe and effective care.
  • To organise own daily workload, adjusting and prioritising appropriately as the department actively dictates.
  • Communicate factual information to patients regarding their condition within your clinical remit. Patients may have barriers to understanding such as a physical or mental disability, including dementia and so information will need to be delivered with tact, empathy, and sensitivity.
  • To use advanced communication skills to encourage patients to engage and undertake activities of daily living/procedures.
  • To ensure that patients, relatives needs are met in a courteous, helpful, and compassionate manner.
  • To ensure all visitors to the department are dealt with in a courteous and helpful manner.
